The Association was established in 1970 because of a bequest from the late J.R. Barker, Esq., of Baldina Station Burra. The organization is non-profit making, is administered by a board of management, and is incorporated under the Retirement Villages Act.

Barker Homes provides high quality retirement accommodation at three addresses:

Chapel Street – 5 Units.
Commercial Street – 9 Units.
John Barker Street – 4 Units.
​
All units offer security of tenure, companionship, personal independence, and a dignified lifestyle.
The units are located close to shops and medical facilities.
​
Some carports and sheds available.
Lawned areas are fully maintained.
Repairs and maintenance are attended to as required.

BURRA COMMUNITY LIBRARY
The Burra Community Library, is a joint use public and community school library and part of the One Card Network, which allows borrowers to access free books, DVDs, CDs and magazines from over 130 SA Libraries using just one library card.
Download free eBooks, audiobooks, digital newspapers and magazines and access free training courses.
Logging on to the One Card Network is easy via our online catalogue at onecard.network/burra by entering your library card number and PIN, both of which can be provided by the Burra Library staff or you can join online at that site.
You are welcome to browse our collection of Adult Fiction, Non-Fiction, Large Print, Magazines, DVDS, Fiction and Picture Books.
We also have Local History resources, internet access, Wi-Fi and are able to assist with photocopying or faxing.
Drop your used toner cartridges, batteries, stamps and corks into the library for recycling.
